Magical Rain Forest

Magical Rain Forest

This tut was written by me, Em Jay, on 3-24-10 with all rights reserved.  Please do not copy and paste it in any group or call it your own. You can link to it using a text link to my blog.

This tut is written using the PTU kit designed by Digicats (and Dogs) called Rainy Season which can be purchased at Scrappetizing.   It was written using PSPX, but is adaptable to any version and is for people with a good working knowledge of PSP.

No outside supplies or filters needed.

This kit contains many natural elements which made it quite easy to create a pretty forest scene.  The tut is pretty much all just copy and paste. All elements are true to size for a tagger kit, so I mainly used my deform tool to resize and position.

Open new image 600 by 600, fill with white. C/P DCD_Frame09. I changed the color of the frame to a green by using Adjust/Hue and Saturation/Hue, Saturation and Lightness, add a drop shadow.

C/P DCD_Aurora and drag layer below the frame, resize so that it does not show on the sides from beneath the frame.  C/P DCD_Vines02 and position along the left side of the frame, drop shadow.  C/P DCD_Fae02 and let her sit on the bottom of the frame, drop shadow.  Add DCD_MysticBling and drag below the frame, resize and position it along the top part of the frame. C/P DCD_Rainbow03, resize and position this layer on top of the frame and slightly above it.

C/P DCD_CherryTree02, resize and position on top of frame, but under the fae poser on the top right corner. C/P DCD_Unicorn01 on bottom right.  I used DCD_Flowers02 and resized and duplicated it 3 times. Position two of the flower layers below the unicorn on your layer palette and two on top of the unicorn. C/P DCD_Bird01, resize and place it on the fae’s fingertips. Then I added DCD_ButterflyBling to the left side on the vined ladder, duplicate, mirror and position below the first layer of butterflies.  I erased the bottom two butterflies on the duplicated layer.

You can now add your text, watermark, and copyright information and you’re done!

Thanks for trying this tutorial.

Hollywood Sweetheart

Hollywood Sweetheart

This tut was written by me, Em Jay, on 3-22-10 with all rights reserved.  Please do not copy and paste it in any group or call it your own. You can link to it using a text link to my blog.

This tut is written using a really fun PTU kit created by Addictive Pleasures called Hollywood Star which can be purchased at Heartbeatz Store.   It was written using PSPX, but is adaptable to any version and is for people with a good working knowledge of PSP.

I used the beautiful images by Jamie Kidd. They are sold at CILM and you need their license to use.  The artist’s personal website is here: http://www.jamiekiddart.com/ . You can, of course, use a tube of your own choice.

This kit was very easy to work with since all of the papers and elements were truly tagger size.  To resize any elements for my tag, I just used the deform tool.  So, when I say resize, I don’t have an exact percentage for you to resize to.  You just use your best judgment and resize and rotate any elements so that they look good to you.

Open new image 550 by 550, fill with white. Open frame3, resize and c/p as new layer. Use the magic wand and click inside frame. Selection/modify/expand 2. Add new raster layer. Open p10, image/rotate right, c/p into selection. Drag layer under the frame. C/P diamonds.png as a new layer, resize to fit inside the frame. C/P city.png as a new layer and resize. C/P filmstrip.png as a new layer over the bottom white layer. Using the deform tool, resize it to fit the whole bottom layer as shown in my image. Close the bottom two layers and merge visible.  Move the merged layer down a little and to the left.

Choose a tube to use and c/p as a new layer. C/P filmstrip2 as a new layer over the tube.  You can use your deform tool to either resize the filmstrip to fit over your tube better or resize your tube. Do whatever works the best for the tube you are using.
Open p10, image/rotate right. Use your magic wand with mode set to add/shift and click inside each of the three film frames of the filmstrip, selection/modify/expand 2. Add new raster layer, c/p p10 into selection, drag below the tube layer. Highlight filmstrip, merge down, then merge down again. Use the deform tool to rotate about 15 degrees to the left.  Position the film down near the left lower corner, add drop shadow.  Open string4 and rotate right, c/p as new layer near the left side of the filmstrip.  Rotate the string a bit to the left so made the angle of the filmstrip.  Add a drop shadow.

C/P diamond frame as a new layer and resize and position it. Using the magic wand click inside the diamond circle, selection/modify/expand 2, add new raster layer, c/p p10 into selection, drag below the frame. C/P another tube as a new layer and move it to fit inside the diamond circle. To get rid of any edges outside the circle, highlight the diamond circle layer, click the magic wand outside the circle, highlight the tube layer which should be the layer below it and hit delete. Add drop shadow to your tube. Highlight top layer with the circle, add drop shadow, merge down, then merge down again.  Position the diamond-framed tube somewhere around the upper right of the image.

C/P stardecor2 on the upper right side and down a bit over your framed image, duplicate and resize smaller and move up closer to the right corner, duplicate, mirror, flip.  Add a drop shadow on each of the three star layers. Highlight top star layer, merge down, then merge down again. I added the old car to the bottom right of the image and added a light gray drop shadow using the setting -1, -1, 85, 1.00.  I added the camera to the lower left and used the light gray drop shadow again only using 1, 1, 85, 1.00. C/P clapboard somewhere near or on the diamond circle frame, add regular drop shadow. Open string3, mirror, c/p as a new layer over the top of the diamond circle, add drop shadow. Open diamond2, resize, c/p over one of the headlights of the old car, duplicate and move over the second headlight, merge down, add drop shadow. And I also used star.png, resizing and duplicating it so that I could had a few here and there over the image. Having all layers open, merge visible.

Now it’s time to add your text, watermark and copyright information. Export as a jpeg and you’re done!

Color of Spring

Color of Spring

This tut was written by me, Em Jay, on 3-20-10 with all rights reserved.  Please do not copy and paste it in any group or call it your own. You can link to it using a text link to my blog.

This tut is written using a PTU kit created by KairinaKat Kreations called
Spring Time Fun which can be purchased here at Scraps With Attitude.   It was written using PSPX, but is adaptable to any version and is for people with a good working knowledge of PSP.

Open new image 600 by 600 and fill with white, select all, add new raster layer, c/p SpringTimeFun 92 into selection, select none.

Add new raster layer. Open SpringTimeFun 91. Set the background color to pattern and select SpringTimeFun 91. Activate the airbrush tool and use these settings, shape-circle, size 250, hardness10, steps10, density10, thickness 100, rotation0, opacity35. Right-clicking the airbrush tool, make little passes of color here and there over the background. Once you like it, merge down. Add your own background mask, merge group. On this layer use the blend mode dissolve, opacity 50, merge visible.

I used one of the fairy posers from the kit, but feel free to use any tube you want to. C/P the focal tube.  Setting your foreground color to a color used in the kit and background color is null, activate the rectangle tool, create on vector checked, width 30. Draw a rectangle almost the size of the focal tube. Click on the object selection tool and rotate layer about 25% to the right or whatever works good with the tube you selected to use. Convert to raster. Select all/float/defloat, add inner bevel to your liking, select none.

Open SpringTimeFun46, resize to 15%, c/p along the left side of the frame, duplicate layer, mirror, use the deform tool to position and resize or rotate if needed. Merge down. Sharpen once.  C/P SpringTimeFun62 as new layer, resize and position with the deform tool covering the stems of the branches, duplicate layer and resize smaller, position again over the branches, add drop shadow on each flower.  C/P SpringTimeFun98 as new layer, position and resize as needed somewhere on the branches, add drop shadow.

Open SpringTimeFun89, resize to 50%. C/P as new layer. Use the deform tool to rotate the sequins to the same angle as the frame and position it on the right side of the frame. Sharpen once, add drop shadow. Open SpringTimeFun86 and 87, resize to 35%, duplicate each one, move over to the right here and there over the larger sequins. Close all layers except these four little sequins and merge visible, add drop shadow.  You can open all layers again.  Highlight focal tube, right click on layer panel, arrange/bring to top.

It’s time to add text, watermark and copyright information. Export as a jpeg, name your image and you’re done!

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial.

Bunny Hop

Bunny Hop

This tut was written by me, Em Jay, on 3-17-10 with all rights reserved.  Please do not copy and paste it in any group or call it your own. You can link to it using a text link to my blog.

This tut is written using a beautiful PTU kit created by Fantasy Dreams Designz  http://fantasydreamsdesignzs.blogspot.com/ called Bunny which can be purchased at Heartbeatz Store.   It was written using PSPX, but is adaptable to any version and is for people with a good working knowledge of PSP.

No additional supplies needed
Animation Shop (optional)

Open a new image 600 by 600, fill with white. Select all, add new raster layer, c/p FD_Paper16 into selection, image/resize to 60%, all layers unchecked. Effect/distortion/ripple with these settings Horizontal/Vertical 60.00, Amplitude 80, Wavelength 26.00, Repeat is ticked.  Effect/texture effects/mosaic antique with these settings Number of columns/rows both 60, Under Mosaic settings 60, 4, 60.

Open FD_Element41, resize to 80%, c/p as new layer, image/free rotate, left 25. Move the heart a little closer to the top and a little to the left. Add a nice drop shadow.

Open Bunny_PoserweltbyAngelaW. I made a selection of the poser from the top of the ears to right below her butt. C/P as new image, resize to 85%. C/P as new layer and move her to the left.

Now we will build our flower spray. Open FD_Element73, resize to 85%, position and rotate a little to the right with the deform tool. Open FD_Element74, resize to 85%, select the top three leaves and some of the stem, c/p it as new image. Now c/p these leaves here and there down the stem of Element 73 to add a little contrast of color.  Open FD_Element50, resize to 50%. C/P at the top of Element73, duplicate and position new layer over to the right and down a bit, duplicate, mirror and position in the cluster of flowers with green leave and move a bit down farther on the stem.  You can rotate these flowers a bit to match up the stems with the stem of Element 73. Open FD_Element35, c/p as new layer and position as shown in my image. Open FD_Element36, resize to 75%, position on the top right curve of the heart.  Now close all layers from the poser to the bottom of the layer palette.  This should leave all the different parts of the flower spray open.  Merge visible. Add a drop shadow.

Open FD_Element12, 20 and 21. C/P the bunny in a hat as shown.  Then c/p the mushrooms each on its own layer, duplicating one of the light and one of the darker mushroom layers.  Arrange your mushrooms into a little cluster on the bottom of the image making sure that one on the right covers the bottom stem of the flower spray and the one on the left covers the straight bottom edge of the poser.  They should also be covering the hat the bunny is in.  Add a drop shadow on each of the five layers.  Closing all layers except the top five, merge visible.

Add your text.  The font I used is called Black Chancery, size 85, stroke set to 2. I used a light pink from the image for the stroke and a darker pink from the image for the fill. Position your text and add a nice drop shadow. Now add the copyright information that was included on the poser and your watermark. With all layers open, merge visible.

Now open FD_Element79 and 80. You can position and resize a few of the butterflies here and there on your image.  I used four of them, but you can add however many you want. Closing the bottom layer, merge visible. Add a nice drop shadow. If you do not want to animate the tag, export as jpeg and name it, then you’re done!

If you wish to animate it like I did, duplicate your top butterfly layer twice. Highlight the top layer, Adjust/add remove noise/Add noise, uniform is ticked, monochrome is checked, noise 28. Close the top layer, highlight second layer, use same setting to add noise except noise should be set to 33. Close the second layer and open the third layer.  Same settings again except noise should be set to 38. Highlight the bottom layer and crop as close to your image as you can without cutting off any of the drop shadows.

ANIMATION SHOP

Leaving the bottom layer open, open the top layer, close the second and third layers. Edit/copy merged. Paste in AS as a new animation. Close top layer and open second layer, copy merged, paste in AS after current frame. Close second layer in PSP and open third layer, copy merged, paste in AS after current frame. Click on file/save as, name your image, save.  You’re done!

Thanks for trying this tut.  I hope you enjoyed it.

This tut is written using a beautiful PTU kit created by Baby Cakes Scraps  http://babycakesscraps.blogspot.com/ called Love Song which can be purchased at Scrappetizing.   It was written using PSPX, but is adaptable to any version and is for people with a good working knowledge of PSP.

Supplies: Here
Animation Shop (optional)

I used a tube by the awesome artist, Ken Martin, http://www.artofkenmartin.com/. Any musical themed tube that you choose to use would work just fine. J

Open a new image 425 by 525, fill with white, select all, add new raster layer, c/p bcs_paper_eleven into selection, adjust/sharpness/unsharp mask radius6, strength 60, clipping 0. Add your favorite mask with edges.  The one I used is included in the supplies.

As you open each element in psp, remember to shiftD and close the originals. Copy and paste all elements on their own layer. All of our resizing and positioning will be done with the deform tool for this tut.

C/P bcs_notes_scatter, blend mode luminance(L), opacity 55. C/P bcs_sparkles, position, duplicate and position second layer over a different area, merge down.

C/P the tube your chose to use and position it where you want it. Change blend mode to luminance(L). Add a nice drop shadow. I didn’t have to lower the opacity because the tube I used was only two-tone, but if the one you chose has a lot of color, you can adjust the opacity a bit to help it blend in.

C/P bcs_glitter_notes, image/free rotate left 45.00 drop shadow. Please feel free to choose the types of flowers you would like to use. I copied and pasted a flower over the left top corner, added a bow and then added another flower only smaller on top of the bow. Add a drop shadow to each layer, the merge these three layers. I copied and pasted three different flowers on the bottom right side of the image, drop shadow each layer and then merged those flowers to one layer.

C/P bcs_note, adjust/sharpen. Drag down below the top left flower.  Duplicate the note twice and position each layer how you want them.  Merge these three layers to one, add drop shadow.

The beautiful flowers in this kit looked like they were made with fabric.  So, I thought it would look nice to add the buttons included in the kit to the centers of the flowers. Just remember to add a nice drop shadow to each button layer.

Add your text, watermark and copyright information. Now is the time to transport as a jpeg if you do not wish to animate the tag. And you’re done!

Animation Shop

If you are familiar with working with AS, what I’ve done here is a very easy add of the floatie included in the supplies.

You don’t even have to merge your tag, just edit/copy merged and paste into AS as a new animation. Open the floatie that was supplied in AS and edit/select all, Animation/resize animation.  I reduced the actual size to 40 pix by 40 fix. Keep all of the frames selected. Highlight your image, edit/duplicate selected until you have 8 frames since that is the number of frames the floatie has. Still on the image, edit/select all.  Now your image should have all frames selected also.  Just drag the first frame of the floatie to the first frame of the image over the button on the top left flower, let the mouse button go.  Click on view animation at the top to see if you like how it looks. Now if you find you don’t like the positioning of the floatie, you can undo drag on both the image and the floatie and try again.

Once you have the animation how you like it for the first button, highlight the floatie, which should now have empty frames, click on edit/undo drag.  Then drag the first frame of the floatie again to the first frame of the image only this time onto the button of the next biggest flower. For my last two flowers, I resized the floatie again to 30 pix by 30 pix because the buttons were smaller.  And I repeated the drag and drop of the floatie two more times so that the last two flower buttons are covered.

Click on file/save as, name your animation and you’re done! See, very easy animation and really makes the tag look pretty. J

Hope you enjoyed this tut!

Better In Blue Jeans

Better In Blue Jeans

This tut was written by me, Em Jay, on 3-10-10 with all rights reserved.  Please do not copy and paste it in any group or call it your own. You can link to it using a text link to my blog.

This tut is written using a PTU kit created by Country Style Designs   at http://countrystyledesignsblog.blogspot.com/ called Better in Blue Jeans which can be purchased here at Scraps With Attitude.   It was written using PSPX, but is adaptable to any version and is for people with a good working knowledge of PSP.

Supplies needed here

Open a new image 500 by 400, flood fill with white. Using your rectangle selection tool make a rectangle about 475 by 350, fill with Paper2_CSD, sharpen once, select none, add a drop shadow.  Use the default script called CenterLayer. Add new raster layer, using the rectangle selection too again, make a rectangle about 450 by 75, fill with Paper1_CSD, sharpen once, select none.  Duplicate this layer two times.  You should now have three separate layers. Using the move tool, arrange the three layers to look like three slats with the same size space between each of them. Merge the top slat down, merge down again to form one layer. Use the CenterLayer script.

Now I used two cute tubes by the artist Sandra Lusquin, www.shankei.com, http://chibisandra.deviantart.com.   You cannot use her work unless you, personally, or a group you’re in has permission to use her work. Select two complimentary tubes to use. Highlight the slats layer and add a drop shadow using the settings 2, 2, opacity 85, blur 4 and select a color from one of your tubes.  Save this color as a swatch because we will be using it again for our mask background. Add a second drop shadow only changing to -2, -2 and using a color from your second tube.  This will help bring together a nice combination of colors which will help blend in the colors of your tubes and the blue and beige jeans colors used in the kit. So, really any two colors from your tubes will work.
Add a new layer, using your rectangle selection tool again make a rectangle about 150 by 375 and fill with Paper2_CSD, select none, CenterLayer.  Now just moving horizontally, move this layer to the left, but keep some of the slats layer showing. Now select all, float, defloat, modify/ contract 10, add new raster layer, fill selection with Paper5_CSD. Highlight the first layer that you moved to the left, selection/modify/expand2, hit delete.  Drag on top of the Paper5 layer. Add a drop shadow to this little frame and then merge down.  Duplicate this layer, mirror, merge down, drop shadow.

Open your two tubes and c/p on new layers one each in the two frames you just made. Use deform tool to resize and position. Add a drop shadow.

Open Lace7_CSD, resize to 25%. C/P as new layer at the top of the two frames, duplicate layer, image/free rotate/right15. Duplicate the original lace layer again, image/free rotate/left 15. Merge top layer down, merge down again. Position and make any size adjustments to the lace with the deform tool. Open Bow5_CSD, resize to 30%, c/p on the center of the lace ribbons. Open Beads2_CSD, resize to 30%, c/p as a new layer, drag under bow layer, duplicate once. Position and resize both bead layers with deform tool until you have something you like.  Merge top layer down, add drop shadow.

I used Flower3 and 5_CSD in a vertical cluster on the top right of the image.  And I used the single flowers, Flower 4 and 6_CSD in a cluster on the lower left. Open Bug2_CSD, resize to 35%, duplicate, position and rotate to how you like them, merge top layer down. Open a new Bug2_CSD, resize to 25%, duplicate, position and rotate until you have them where you want them, merge top layer down. Add a drop shadow to both bug layers.

Set your foreground color to one of the colors you used when we added the drop shadows to the slats.  And set your background color to the other color you used. Select the foreground/background gradient and use these settings, vertical/horizontal 30, 0 repeats. Highlight bottom white layer, add new raster layer, fill with gradient. Apply the supplied mask. Add text, watermark and copyright information. Export as a jpeg and you’re done!

Thanks for trying this tut.  I hope you enjoyed it. J

Freebie Minikit

I'm still getting my feet wet with making scrap kits.  Here's a freebie mini-kit I put together that is FTU, personal use only. I hope you enjoy it! :)
